Voters in the 128th State Assembly District can expect to see Pamela Hunter on the Democrat line in the November election.
In last week’s primary, Hunter, a current member of the Syracuse Common Council, faced David M. Stott and Jean Kessner for a spot on the Democrat line in the ballot to fill the seat left vacant by Sam Roberts. The seat was vacated in June when Roberts, a Democrat, was appointed as commissioner of the Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance.
Hunter won with 1,820 votes, with Kessner receiving 1,004 and Stott 614.
After hearing the news, Hunter said on her campaign’s Facebook page, “I am forever grateful for every single vote, voter, volunteer and Union that helped us win on Thursday. On to November 3!”
Republican John Sharon has already been endorsed by the Republican and Independent parties for this race in the November election. Sharon has run and lost against Roberts for the seat three times, in 2010, 2012 and 2014.
The 128th Assembly District includes the towns of DeWitt, Onondaga and Salina, and parts of Syracuse. Its registered voters are about 45 percent Democrat.
