Fresh off their combined victory in the May 1 CBA-Brother Basilian Invitational, the Skaneateles track and field teams found more success when league action resumed.
Hosting Hannibal last Wednesday afternoon at Hyatt Stadium, the Lakers claimed both sides of the meet, prevailing 96-44 on the girls side and beating the Warriors 78-63 on the boys side.
During that girls meet, Angela Krause won twice to ignite a sweep of the field events, going 15 feet 4 inches in the long jump and 32’6” in the triple jump.

So much of the damage was done by Skaneateles in relay events. Connor Hill, Kai Soderberg, Tommy Hagen and Griffin Lawson were victorious in the 4×800 in 3:45.12, well clear of J-E (3:49.39) and the field, as Soderberg, Zach Blair, Jon Metz and James Hackler won the 4×400 in 3:53.48.
Blair and Soderberg, joined by Jake Peterson and Max Messie, were second (48.17 seconds) to Westmoreland (46.62 seconds in the 4×100 relay, with Joe Capozza, Stephen Ciaccio, Jon Metz and Sam McClintic going 9:40.29 to get second place behind Weedsport (9:16.85) in the 4×800.

Though mostly quiet in field events, Andrew Weiss changed that when he won the long jump, going 17’9 ¼”to finish half a foot ahead of the field. Chase Corcoran was seventh in the discus, throwing it 101’8”, with Dalton Carter seventh (9 feet) in the pole vault.
A day earlier, in the John Arcaro Invitational at Baldwinsville, the Skaneateles girls had 86 points and tied the host Bees for second place behind Tully, who finished on top with 94 points.
Skaneateles won two of three relays, starting in the 4×100, where Marrinan, Krause, Laurel Parker and Amanda Wetmore hit the finish line in 51.41 seconds to hold off B’ville (51.88 seconds) for the top spot.
Then, in the 4×800, Willcox, Neal, Liz Dwyer and Natalie Condon posted 10:13.36, well clear of runner-up Cazenovia (10:31.72) and the field. Willcox would, in the 800, nearly prevail, going 2:20.71, second to Tully’s Ashleigh Crawford, who won in 2:20.41.
Peterson, in the 200-meter final, got a time of 27.15 seconds, edging out Gage (27.19 seconds) for that runner-up spot as Indian River’s Lydia Torres won in 26.96 seconds. Wetmore was third (13.19 seconds) and Parker fourth (13.27 seconds) in the 100 sprint for 10 more points.
