Eleven straight strikes were in the books. All that Nick Joss needed was one more to earn a perfect game and offer an exclamation point to the Cicero-North Syracuse bowling team’s sweep of Liverpool last Tuesday afternoon at Strike-N-Spare Lanes. Going for 300, Joss rolled it well, but left one pin standing, much to the frustration of himself and his teammates, not to mention all the other bowlers who stopped and watched as Joss got as close to perfection as possible. Still, the Northstars could take away a 3-0 victory where Joss finished with a 708 series and had plenty of help. Josh Cloute had a 655 series (236 high game), with Zach Emm earning a steady three-game total of 652 and Jacob Fox rolling a 233 game during his 616 set. By contrast, the Warriors had no bowler topping the work of Jimmy Santy, whose 548 series included a 199 high game. Jason Carter added a 511 series and 193 high game. So it was a 299 game, matching what Auburn’s Andrew Kopec had done the day before against Baldwinsville at B’ville Sports Bowl, Meanwhile, the C-NS girls bowlers put together its own 3-0 victory over Liverpool. Bryce Sabine, with a 496 series (170 high game), paced the Northstars, with Kaitlin Antineli earning a 467 series, one pin better than Taylor Puttkamer’s 466 total. The Warriors saw Dailyn McCarthy shoot a 453 series with a high game of 173. And C-NS didn’t stop there, going on to get a big sweep of Baldwinsville on Thursday afternoon at Strike-N-Spare despite a remarkable effort by the Bees’ Tyler Watchus in the Northstars’ 3-0 boys victory. Tearing up Strike-N-Spare, Watchus rolled 10 strikes in a 289 game and added two more high scores to finish with an 804 series, the best in Section III so far this season. C-NS countered with a deeper lineup, led by Joss, who didn’t get close to a perfect game, but still had a steady 703 series and 245 high game. Cloute put together a three-game total of 636 (high game of 225), with Emm adding a 591 series (214 high game) and Fox a 574 series. C-NS’s girls held off B’ville 2-1, largely because Antineli improved more than 100 pins to a 569 series, which included a 235 high game. Help came from Puttkamer, whose 187 game led to a 503 series, and Sabine, with a three-game total of 426. Liverpool was back in action on Thursday afternoon against Central Square at Flamingo Bowl, each side unable to prevail against the Red Hawks. The girls Warriors fell, 2-1, as Dailyn McCarthy shot a 440 series and 153 high game, with Yasminah Moore adding a 162 game in her 395 set. Mercedes Race (435 series) and Chelsea Cowan (422 series) set the pace for the Red Hawks. Liverpool’s boys team took a 3-0 loss to Central Square, despite Jimmy Santy’s 614 series and 224 high game. Dietrick Roberson added a 507 series (184 high game) as the Red Hawks’ Kyle Bacon shot a 256 game in his 634 set and Zach Griffing added a 608 series.
