After each of Baldiwnsville’s indoor track and field teams saw their first meets of 2014 pushed back to later in January by bad winter weather, they were eager to get started again.
And the girls Bees would do so at SRC Arena during Wednesday night’s George Constantino Memorial Invitational, where it would gain 28 points and rise to fifth place in the team standings. Fayetteville-Manlius, with 81.6 points, prevailed as West Genesee (52 points) finished second.
B’ville nearly got to the top in the 4×200 relay, where the quartet of Hailey Couchman, Cierra Allen, Brittany LaRock and Elise Seifritz finished in one minute, 53.54 seconds, inches behind Mexico, who won in 1:53.49, the two sides separated by 0.05 seconds.
Couchman also gained plenty of individual points, getting to third place in the 300-meter dash in 43.32 seconds as Allen, in 44.71 seconds, claimed sixth place. Kelley Hull made her way to fourth place in the 1,000-meter run in 3:18.15.
Brittany LaRock managed to clear 7 feet 6 inches and take fourth place in the pole vault. Hannah Wood finished fifth in the 55-meter hurdles in 9.75 seconds, with Liz Wisely getting 10th place in 10 seconds flat. Emily Soeder cleared 5 feet in the high jump, also finishing fifth.
Marissa Lathrop, Nadine Dickter, Katie Wicks and Mia Bolton secured sixth place in the 4×800 relay in a time of 11:01.54, while Carlie McNamara earned ninth place (30’1 ½”) in the shot put.
Individually, Lathrop claimed 11th place (1:47.70) in the 600-meter run, with Wicks 17th. Kayleigh Sattler had a 12th-place triple jump of 28’10 ¾”. Seifritz was 19th in the 55-meter dash, with Dickter and Kirby Socker 19th and 20th, respectively, in the 1,500-meter run.
