As part of the Baldwinsville girls indoor track and field team’s seventh-place finish in Thursday’s Fred Kirschenheiter Memorial Invitational at SRC Arena, Cierra Allen earned an impressive victory in the 300-meter dash.
Allen was the only runner out of 43 entered to break the 43-second mark, as the junior’s time of 42.45 seconds easily prevailed over Emma Ford (Skaneateles), who was second in 43.16 seconds.
Overall, the Bees had 23 points, far from the winning total of 81 points that Fayetteville-Manlius, but still full of solid efforts beyond Allen’s win.
Emily Soeder cleared 4 feet 9 inches with fewer misses than four other competitors, so she took second place to East Syracuse-Minoa’s Nina Zesky (5’1”) in the high jump. Lauren Fisher topped 7’6” for fourth place in the pole vault.
Sarah Klaben needed 7.74 seconds to sprint to fifth place in the 55-meter dash. Hannah Wood got to sixth in the 55-meter hurdles in 9.82 seconds.
Kelley Hull took eighth in the 1,000-meter run and eighth-grader Katie Wicks rose to eighth (1:48.64) in the 600-meter run. Maizy Ludden got ninth in the 3,000-meter run, with Melissa Voyer ninth in the triple jump, and Julia Johnson was 14th in the 1,500-meter run. Julia Kamide and Cecilia Martinez were 14th and 15th, respectively, in the shot put.
For the most part, the B’ville boys indoor track team kept quiet during its portion of the Kirschenheiter meet, only earning six points.
Jack Martin had the Bees’ best finish, covering the mile in 4:41.19 as Colin Fitzgibbons (F-M) won in 4:32.11. Josh Perez did pick up a fifth-place time of 2:41.44 in the 1,000-meter run.
The Bees just missed points in the 4×400 relay as Jason Ekure, Edgar Ekure, Chris Guido and Martin Sak were seventh in 4:00.03. Logan Maar cleared 11 feet and was seventh in the pole vault.
Greg Lefanchek was 11th in the 55 hurdles in 9.34 seconds, while Ryan Delola was 12th in the 3,200-meter run and Sam Smith took 14th in the triple jump.
Everyone now could look ahead to the CNY Counties League championship meets, with the boys competing Thursday and the girls on Friday at SRC Arena.
