Jamesville-DeWitt’s track and field teams both rolled through Wednesday’s three-way meet against Chittenango and Fulton.
On the girls end, several different Red Rams earned multiple titles, leading to a 125-15 victory over the Bears and 124-17 conquest of the Red Raiders.
From the sprints, there was Ally Fox winning the 100-meter dash (12.7 seconds) and 200-meter dash (27.10 seconds), both of them close calls – over the Bears’ Courtney Dyer in the 100 and her teammate Liz Pieri in the 200.
Maggie Fuller, having claimed the 400 hurdles in 1:14.5 to Hannah Geitner’s 1:14.7, went on to clear 5 feet 3 inches in the high jump, holding off Fulton’s Anna McKay by an inch.
Sierra Vasiliou unleashed a long jump of nearly 17 feet – 16’11 ¾”, to be exact, after she won the shot put by tossing it 31’7”. Rachel Fairbanks needed 2:40.9 to claim the 800-meter run after taking the 1,500-meter run in 4:23.5.
Emilee Carpenter added a 3,000-meter title in 11:52.8, teaming with Laura Wengert, Hannah Stefl and McKenzie Kallquist to win the 4×800 relay in 10:38.4. Fox, Liz Pieri, Katy Pieri and Taylor-Rae Danforth won the 4×100 (52.3 seconds) after Danforth needed 17.9 seconds to prevail in the 100-meter hurdles.
Danielle Doss joined the Pieris and Fox in the 4×400 relay, where J-D won in 4:22 flat. This came as Tangela Hightower earned first place in the discus (82’10”) and Patrece Martin leapt a half inch past 32 feet in the triple jump.
During the J-D boys’ sweep of Chittenango (115-26) and Fulton (114-27), Will Sterriker won the 110 hurdles (16.0 seconds) and 400 hurdles (1:01.1) before unleashing a top long jump of 19’2”. Nick Harron won the mile in 4:52.7 and the 3,200-meter run in 10:44.5.
Elsewhere among individuals, Zach Liebmann cleared 10’6” in the pole vault, while Ryan Peters threw the discus 124’11”. Taumeras Howard had a 100 sprint time of 11.5 seconds, with Navale Taylor going 23.7 seconds in the 200. Dylan Volk won the triple jump with 40’2” and David Barletta was first in the shot put, tossing it 41’3”.
J-D swept all three relays, claiming the 4×100 (45.5 seconds), 4×400 (3:47.8) and 4×800 (8:56.3) with help from Howard, Liebmann, Taylor, Harron, Sterriker, Alex Wilmot, Nate Sturgeon, Marquis Drummond, Samuel Dye and Isaac Tupper.
On Friday, the J-D girls team went to the Tully Invitational and recorded a series of high finishes, including the 4×400, where Fox, Doss and the Pieri sisters posted 4:15.99 and beat runner-up Cazenovia (4:20.87) by nearly five seconds.
Fairbanks worked her way to second place in the 1,500 in 5:07.74, trailing only Cicero-North Syracuse’s Jacqlynn Halstead (4:59.55). In the 4×800, Fairbanks, Carpenter, Wengert and Stefl were second in 10:19.22 as, again, C-NS (10:13.33) prevailed. That same quartet took third place in the distance medley relay in 13:44.46.
Fox contended in the sprints, taking third in the 200 in 27.29 seconds and fourth in the 100 in 13.24 seconds. Liz and Katy Pieri were seventh and eighth, respectively, in the 400, and they helped Fox as J-D took second (51.97 seconds) to Cazenovia (50.85 seconds) in the 4×100 relay.
In field events, Martin landed in second place in the triple jump, going 32’7”. Vasiliou had a third-place long jump of 15’5 ½” and also got third in the shot put, throwing it 30’4” as teammate Tangela Hightower (30’2”) was fourth. Doss was sixth in the pole vault, clearing 8 feet.
And Fuller took her turn in the five-event pentathlon, winning the high jump with a clearance of 5’1 ¼” and, overall, getting 2,221 points, good for third place as C-NS star Katie Osborne won with 2,558 points.
