Syracuse Police have charged two people in connection to burglaries in the University area.
Marisa Sewall, 22, and Devin Edwards, 18, were both charged with second-degree burglary, fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, criminal possession of burglary tools and petit larceny.
The charges come after police responded to a burglary in progress on Ackerman Avenue. The resident confronted the suspect, Edwards, while he was in the home. Police say Edwards told the resident that he was there to borrow a friend’s laptop, but the resident told Edwards that person does not live there.
The resident watched as Edwards left in a white SUV and took down the license plate.
They were later stopped and police say both admitted to four other burglaries on Ackerman Avenue on March 1, as well as two on Feb. 20. Police say they’re suspects in an additional burglary on Ackerman and on Redfield Place in September.
Other charges are pending.
