All season long, the Baldwinsville ice hockey team has swayed back and forth, never staying too long in good or bad territory.
A return to the former position took place Tuesday night as the Bees put together a 3-2 victory over Solvay at Greater B’ville Ice Arena.
For most of the contest, both sides met with frustration as a pair of terrific goalies stood out. In fact, by game’s end, both Corey Johns and Solvay’s Ryan Bonk finished with 33 saves.
Yet it was B’ville leading, 1-0, going into the third period, and it scored twice to counter tallis from Will Downs and Forrest Gilbert. Three different players – Parker Ferrigan, Dan Strodel and Matt Zandri – got the three goals, while Shane O’Brien and Ronnie May earned assists.
Put in a better playoff position, the Bees were set to face Liverpool (with whom it shares the Lysander facility) on Friday night before the first serious winter storm of the season caused a postponement.
B’ville would look to avenge a 5-4 early-December defeat to Corcoran Wednesday, at Meachem Rink, before hosting Rochester McQuaid next Friday night.
