For its 2011-12 season opener, the Baldwinsville boys swim team got a chance to compete against two of the area’s best talents.
Oswego’s Reeve Callen and Drake Becksted would play a large role in Wednesday’s meet, a main reason why the Bees would take a 98-82 loss to the Buccaneers.
Of course, B’ville has its own standout in Dan Burke, who won twice in this meet. He swam the 100 backstroke in 56.75 seconds after claiming the 200 individual medley in 2:06.62.
Burke also helped Jack McMahon, Zach Akers and Kevin Bridge win the opening race, the 200 medley relay, in a clocking of 1:53.12. Later, Burke returned to team with Kyle Atkinson, John Bartlett and Michael Watkins to win the 400 freestyle relay in 4:01.84.
However, it was Callen that dazzled with a time of 1:47.10 in the 200 freestyle and a 100 freestyle victory in 48.53 seconds. Becksted, too, proved too quick as he swam the 50 freestyle in 21.46 seconds and the 100 butterfly in 51.56 seconds.
