One by one, Jordan-Elbridge watched as three other local girls volleyball teams – Marcellus, Westhill and Solvay – moved from a winter to fall schedule, stripping away most of the OHSL Liberty division.
However, the Eagles did not follow, choosing instead to see if it could find some more success in a revamped winter league.
In last Thursday night’s opener against Christian Brothers Academy, J-E lost in four sets to the Brothers. After losing the first set 25-16, the Eagles won the second set 25-22 to pull even.
CBA rolled through the third set 25-9, yet J-E nearly forced the match to the wire before dropping a close fourth set 25-23.
Kali Kimak led J-E with 22 digs, eight kills and two aces. Katie Byrnes had 18 digs to go with her six kills. Olivia Simmons produced nine assists and Paige Brown added six assists, with Ashley Wixson recording 17 digs. Samantha Ryan (seven digs, three aces), with Kerry Mack adding four digs and Emma Coomey contributing three kills.
J-E will remain home Tuesday to play Jamesville-DeWitt, and on Thursday visits East Syracuse-Minoa before a Saturday trip to Weedsport.
