Baldwinsville’s girls swim team would get a big test against all of the area’s top competitors during last week’s Section III championship meet at Nottingham High School.
In the Class A portion of the meet on Thursday, the Bees picked up 241 points, putting them in fourth place. West Genesee won with 375.5 points, with CBA second (322 points) and Liverpool (255 points) sliding into third place.
Samantha Sidroakis had the best individual finish, in the 100-yard backstroke, where she recorded a time of 1:05.63. Only CBA’s Summer Schmitt (59.30 seconds) and WG’s Brianna Smith (1:02.39) fared better. Sidorakis also raced to sixth in the 100 freestyle in 59.04 seconds.
Elsewhere, Charis Parker worked her way to fourth place in the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.61, also taking fourth in the 200 individual medley in 2:26.94. Kaitlyn Martin was sixth in the 50 freestyle in 26.51 seconds and also sixth in the 100 butterfly.
Of the three relays, B’ville did best in the 200 medley, where Sidorakis, Martin, Parker and Megan Eubank finished fourth in 1:59.03 as CBA won in 1:54.29.
Moving on to Saturday’s overall sectional championships, B’ville would finish seventh, with 128 points, as CBA (275 points) edged West Genesee (241 points) for top honors.
Martin, Sidorakis, Parker and Eubank again broke two minutes in the 200 medley relay, claiming fifth place in 1:59.43. Parker improved to 1:10.30 in the 100 breaststroke and gained fifth place.
