A Syracuse man has been charged with criminal possession of a weapon after an on-foot police chase.
Terrance Blatche, 31, of Onondaga Avenue, was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for an equipment violation. Police say Blatche had an open alcoholic beverage in the car and he was asked to exit the vehicle.
When Blatche did so, police say they observed a handgun in his possession. When police attempted to take him into custody, they allege Blatche fought with the officers and ran from the car. The officers, Potts and Thomas, were able to chase Blatche to the 200 block of Lincoln Avenue. They recovered a loaded .38 caliber handgun.
The driver of the vehicle, whose name has not been released, was issued traffic tickets for unlicensed oepration of a motor vehicle, disobeying a stop sign and no passenger side mirror.
Blatche is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday morning in Syracuse City Court.
