The Central New York Animal Welfare Coalition is inviting pet owners in some of Syracuse’s neediest neighborhoods to healthy pet clinics this fall. The clinics will provide veterinary exams and critical vaccinations to dog and cat owners with financial need — specifically, for residents of Syracuse’s near and south west sides.
Upcoming clinics will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, and Sunday, Nov. 11, at St. Lucy’s Church gymnasium at 425 Gifford St.
Dogs must be leashed and cats brought in carriers. Veterinarians will perform exams, vaccinate for rabies, distemper and other shots. They will also offer flea and tick preventative. Pet-less? During Cat Adoption Month, the adopter’s age for the Humane Association of CNY’s Seniors for Seniors program will be lowered from age 62 to 55 for people adopting cats 4 years of age and older. Under this program, the adoption fee is reduced to $35 from the usual rate of $75, and all cats adopted will be eligible to receive a complimentary health examination.
