Marshal, Zehr join Syracuse City Ballet
The Syracuse City Ballet announces it will welcome two new associates to its team starting in July. Ty Marshal will be joining the Ballet as Director of Development and Jessica Zehr as Associate Director.
Born and raised in Syracuse, Ty Marshal began performing as an actor in community and regional stage productions throughout his formative years. His passion for theater and dance eventually led him to the worlds of music making and visual art.
As a working visual artist and photographer, with a history in music and theater, Jessica Zehr has been involved in the Arts for most of her life. She is also from the Central New York area and earned a BFA at Syracuse University’s College of Visual and Performing Arts.
Hiscock & Barclay hire Venezia
Michelle Venezia, former Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Syracuse, joins Hiscock & Barclay, LLP as an associate in the firm’s Syracuse Office. She will focus her practice at the firm on federal and state litigation matters.
Venezia has been a legal clinic volunteer for Vera House, and is a graduate of Syracuse University College of Law and the University of Connecticut.
Paul C. Sheedy, vice president, has been named area retail leader for KeyBank’s Central New York District Retail Banking. In his new position, Sheedy is responsible for branch administration and sales management for Key’s 12 West Area branches in Onondaga, Cortland and Cayuga counties.
Sheedy earned his associate’s degree in liberal arts from Onondaga Community College in Syracuse and his bachelor’s degree in communications/management from St. John Fisher College in Rochester. He also attended the University of Virginia’s Graduate School of Retail Bank Management.
A resident of Syracuse, Sheedy serves as president of the Camillus Chamber of Commerce and is a board member for W.A.V.E.S., Octagon House, CNY Scottish Games and Celtic Festival and the Syracuse Scottish Bagpipe Band. Sheedy is also on the finance committee for Holy Family Church and is a guest lecturer for the Small Business Development Center in Syracuse.
100 years for Farone & Son
Farone & Son Funeral Home celebrates its 100th anniversary of providing quality funeral service to generations of families in the Syracuse area this year.
“Our family has been honored to serve families in the Syracuse area for 100 years,” said Farone & Son general manager Joseph Farone. “Along with my father and sister, we are committed to building on the tradition my great-grandfather and grandfather established and are dedicated to serving New York families as we have for generations with compassion and dignity.”
Joseph Farone, Sr. opened the funeral home in 1911 on State Street. In 1947, Joseph Farone, Sr. and son Joseph Jr. moved the funeral home to James Street. Patrick and Anthony Farone joined their father, Joseph Jr. in the family business in 1967. Anthony Farone, along with his father Joseph Jr., built a new 17,000 square foot facility on Park Street in 1975, which is where Farone & Son Funeral Home now resides. In the late 1980s, Marie Farone and her brother, Joseph, joined their father, Anthony, in the family business. In 1988, Farone & Son Funeral Home joined the Dignity Memorial network of funeral providers. Marie and Joseph, who represent the fourth generation of Farone funeral directors, are still managing the business along with their father Anthony, who also continues to be hands on in serving the families in the Syracuse area.
