Monday June 6 marked the last Cazenovia Village Board meeting Mayor Tom Dougherty would preside over. With the village elections on June 21, Deputy Mayor Kurt Wheeler will look to take office as Cazenovia’s new mayor, and trustees Amy Mann and Peggy Van Arnam will each look to be reelected for another term.
Following a public hearing at 6:45 p.m. offering board and community input on “a local law to enact the 2011 zoning code of Cazenovia,” village board members began the June meeting at 7 p.m.
It was decided that local engineering firm GHD would be representing the Village of Cazenovia on the developing and implementing Storm Water Harvesting Project. A payment amount of $35,000 was unanimously agreed upon by all five board members.
Discussion on Riverside Drive followed. A topic that has been the source of much debate, the Riverside Drive Committee will look to issue a new Request for Proposal, as developers Ed Green and Scott Shannon have recently pulled out of the project. A meeting of the committee will be held the evening of June 18, and trustee Peggy Van Arnam plans meeting with David Bottar, the Executive Director of the Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board, on June 23.
In other board news
– The July Cazenovia Village Board meeting would be set for 7 p.m. July 7, due to observation of Independence Day. A 6:45 p.m. public hearing will precede the meeting.
– An environmental impact review was completed on the proposed crushed stone parking area to occupy the grassy area in between the structure at 6 Farnham St. and the Cazenovia Volunteer Fire Department. It was reported that a fire hydrant may need to be relocated and rainwater drainage would be the main item to consider, otherwise, board members and Village Attorney Jim Stokes saw no other environmental impact.
– The Greater Cazenovia Area Chamber of Commerce was granted use of Lakeland Park and the bandstand for the 2011 Chamber Summer Concert Series. It was also agreed that the chamber would be allowed to display signs on the park’s fence, advertising upcoming acts.
– Stone Quarry Hill Art Park will be allowed to hang a vinyl sign on the fence of Lakeland Park through July 31, advertising the Art Quilt Experience exhibition.
