Moving to 2-4 on the season, the Cicero-North Syracuse boys swim team went west on Route 31 Thursday night, visited Baldwinsville and came back home with a 53-31 victory over the Bees. Tyler Smith led the way by winning two individual races. He covered the 50 freestyle in 24.56 seconds, then went to the 100 butterfly and prevailed in 1:03.09. Billy Werksman claimed first place in the 100 backstroke in 1:02.52, while Ben Mozo earned a victory in the 100 freestyle in 54.89 seconds. Tom McAndrew took the 100 breaststroke in 1:14.43. Of the three relays, CNS prevailed just once – in the 200 freestyle relay, where Mozo, Smith, Dan Angarano and Ricky Blackburn posted a top time of 1:40.37. B’ville’s Dan Burke was first in both the 200 individual medley (2:06.94) and 500 freestyle (5:06.27). A day earlier, Liverpool tried to halt West Genesee’s 25-meet win streak, but proved unsuccessful in a 101-83 loss to the Wildcats. Of the 12 events, the Warriors won just twice. Phil MacLeod, on his own, swam the 50 freestyle in 23.49 seconds, and the 400 freestyle relay team of MacLeod, Alex Perfitt, Cory Spado and Shane Donovan got a victory in 3:32.03. Meanwhile, WG’s Ben Seketa dazzled as he broke the Warriors’ pool record in the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:58.05. He also won the 100 freestyle in a blistering 45.12 seconds and helped WG take the 200 medley (1:44.35) and 200 freestyle (1:34.53) relays before he was done.
