Two new plays will make their debut at a script-in-hand reading beginning at 1 p.m. Sunday Jan. 23 at Armory Square Playhouse at Jazz Central. Local playwrights Amy Doherty and David Feldman will introduce their latest plays, both of which grapple with big questions. Doherty’s “The Ladder” asks, how many senior citizens does it take to change a light bulb? Discoveries are made between dear friends as they tackle a mundane but essential task. “Sitting Quietly Doing Nothing Spring Comes and the Grass Grows,” Feldman’s Sunday offering, wonders whether love can be found in the yuppie bars and restaurants of a CNY city in the 1990s? Is spaghetti and meatballs better than tofu-filled ravioli? Is Elvis working in the cafeteria of a local hospital? Each play will be followed by a talk-back with the writers. Admission costs $7; $5 for students and seniors.
