It was fair to assume that the Jamesville-DeWitt girls soccer team had no adequate follow-up to its 8-0 destruction of defending Section III Class AA champion Christian Brothers Academy on Sept. 16 at Alibrandi Stadium.
But the Red Rams did not have a letdown, either, as it visited Mexico Tuesday night and got an all-star performance from
Tessa Devereaux during a 5-1 victory over the Tigers.
Devereaux personally helped J-D overcome Jessica Williamson’s goal, leading the Rams to a 3-1 halftime edge and spurring the late charge, too.
All told, Devereaux had four goals, adding an assist on Jessica Holmes’ tally for good measure, while Maddy Devereaux gained her own assist. J-D finished with 23 shots to Mexico’s four.
Meanwhile, the J-D boys soccer team continued to set the pace in the OHSL Freedom division with Tuesday’s effort against Mexico as it blanked the Tigers 2-0.
Both goals came in the first half. Austin Roney and Jimmy Fazio put shots past Mexico goalie Dominic Veiga, with Andrew Lee earning assists both times. Then the Rams’ defense went into shutdown mode, holding the Tigers to a grand total of two shots.
