For the second time in as many weeks, the Christian Brothers Academy girls team got the best of a major local rival.
A week after handling Jamesville-DeWitt, the Brothers turned its attention to Fayetteville-Manlius and, once again, came out on top, beating the Hornets 101-83.
CBA set the tone for the rest of the meet in the 200 medley relay, where Destiny Cerlanek, Maggie Fletcher, Kathryn Coughlin and Summer Schmitt finished in 1:53.76, beating F-M (1:58.09) by more than four seconds.
Schmitt tore through the 200 indivdual medly in a time of 2:15.98, nearly 10 seconds clear of F-M’s Melissa James, and also won the 100 backstroke in 1:01.10. Coughlin needed 1:08.30 to prevail in the 100 breaststroke.
Fletcher would sweep the sprints, starting with the 50 freestyle, where she needed 25.69 seconds to beat F-M’s Stephanie WIlcoxen (26.87). In the 100 freestyle, Fletcher finished in 54.52 seconds, with the Hornets’ Hadley Cameron-Carter (56.69) in the runner-up spot.
Ruthie Speidel first arrived in the 200 freestyle, where she roared to first place in 2:00.04, and kept on going in the 500 freestyle as she blazed to a winning time of 5:15.84. Zoe McCauley joined in by winning the 100 buttefly in 1:04.73.
F-M would gain a couple of titles, starting with Amy Bright earning 224.6 points on the diving board. It would also win the 200 freestyle relay as Cameron-Carter, James, Wilcoxen and Sam Paige blazed to a time of 1:46.73.
But in the closing 400 freestyle relay, CBA offered one more victory as Schmitt, Speidel, Fletcher and Cerlanek finished in 3:54.16.
