The Empire State Development Corporation held a public hearing last Wednesday regarding the location of the proposed Northwest YMCA at the corner of Drake’s Landing and Route 31 in Radisson. Originally approved in 2006, the site is under further review after a judge invalidated previous approval ruling in favor of Families For REAL, a group of Radisson residents who filed suit against the facility’s location.
While the site has been challenged by Families For REAL, the majority of attendees wore “Support the Y” buttons and spoke in favor of the location of the proposed YMCA. The ESDC will accept public comments through June 14, after which they will make a decision regarding site approval.
