Extending its lead in the OHSL Freedom division, the Jamesville-DeWitt track and field teams had an easy time with East Syracuse-Minoa and Fowler in Monday’s three-way meet.
On the boys side, the Red Rams won 111-29 over the Spartans and 121-19 over the Falcons, with ESM also beating Fowler in a 103-33 decision.
All of J-D’s stars took a turn, including David Salbert, who went 22 feet 5 inches in the long jump and added a top triple jump of 44 feet 4 inches. He also won the 400-meter dash in 51.7 seconds.
Ira Griffin was first in the 100-meter dash (11.4 seconds) and added a 200-meter win in 23 seconds flat. Bumkoth Jiak broke the two-minute mark again in the 800-meter run (1:59.7) as Austin Davis covered the mile in 4:46.3.
Davis, Jiak, Tyler Petersen and Max Smith combined to prevail in the 4×800 relay (8:16.6) as J-D also won the 4×100 (46.9 seconds) and 4×400 (3:38.5), where Salbert, Petersen, Tim Kendrick and Alex Wilmot came together. Petersen, on his own, claimed the 400 hurdles in 1:03.9.
ESM would have a couple of winning moments, though, as Steve Episcopo cleared 9 feet to take the pole vault and Mike Coogan ran 3,200 meters in 10:42.
Over in the girls meet, where J-D beat ESM 127-14 and Fowler 141-10 and the Spartans beat the Falcons 114-26, the Rams swept all the events.
Marae Tearney took the 100-meter dash (13.2 seconds) and shot put (33 feet 2 inches), while Liz Pieri was first in the 400 (1:02.3) and 200 (27.7 seconds) sprints.
Other wins went to Natalie Mannion (triple jump, 32 feet 11 1/2 inches), Margaret Fuller (high jump, 5 feet), Monica King (discus, 75 feet 10 1/2 inches), Courtney Ellis (100 hurdles, 18.2 seconds), Ameena Dye (1,500 meters, 5:14.9), Hannah Fagut (400 hurdles (1:15.1) and Eileen Cody (3,000 meters, 11:43.1).
J-D also swept the 4×100 (52.5 seconds), 4×400 (4:19.2) and 4×800 (10:29.5) relays as Mannion, Dye, Cody, Tearney, Liz Pieri, Katy Pieri, Rebecca Doss, Paige Morrow, Amanda Tan and Linsay Royer took part.
