Fully tested during a 1-2 start, the Baldwinsville softball team began to assert itself in a busy week of spring-break activity.
In particular, the Bees’ offense was on display during last Monday’s game against Rome Free Academy as it bashed the Black Knights 11-3.
A pair of early two-run rallies set the tone, but the Bees, not content with a 4-1 lead, broke it open in the bottom of the fourth by batting around the order and plating six runs to reach double digits on the board.
Kristen Biedermann, with a triple and three RBIs, led B’ville’s 16-hit assault. Katie Ducharme doubled and drove in two runs, while Emily Brissenden, Katie Dobkowski, Kaitlyn Massett and Kristen Baldino had one RBI apiece. Cassie Williams pitched most of the way to earn the win.
Still home Tuesday to face Central Square, the Bees played a closer contest, but still fought past the Red Hawks 3-1.
Poor Central Square defense led to a pair of first-inning runs, all that Lizi Campbell would need. Campbell surrendered just two hits, both of them to Kristie Jones — a double and home run — but nothing else as she had five strikeouts and only walked one.
