The Baldwinsville Girls Lacrosse team’s fashion show fundraiser returns Sunday Feb. 28 bringing the community all the latest fashions for ball and prom.
The varsity lacrosse team and their male escorts will model dresses and tuxedos.
“The team truly enjoys shedding the sports equipment and uniforms, dressing up in ball gowns and being models for a day,” said Chris Yaro, a member of the Baldwinsville Girls Lacrosse Booster Club. “It is always fun and full of laughs for both the girls and the audience.”
Held from 2 to 5 p.m., the event will take place at the Red Mill Inn and will feature fashions from Boom Babies, the largest retailer of prom dresses in Syracuse, and Tuxedo Junction.
“This is our third year that we have partnered with Boom Babies to display the new lines of prom and ball fashion,” Yaro said.
Jewelry and purse vendors will also be at the event displaying and selling their latest merchandise. Fashion show attendees will also have an opportunity to participate in a silent auction, in which merchandise and services from local businesses and contributors will be auctioned.
“We began the fashion show as a fundraiser for the girls’ trip to play lacrosse in England,” Yaro said. “It was a huge success.”
Proceeds from this year’s event will help fund the team’s spring break trip to Pittsburgh where the girls will conduct spring training for the upcoming season.
“This is a fun event for the girls and a productive way to raise money for their spring trip,” Yaro said. “We found it to be a good team building experience as the girls work together to solicit donations for the silent auction, plan the event and make decisions regarding music and decorations. It promotes working together for a common goal.”
Deserts and non-alcoholic beverages will be served at the event and tickets are available for purchase at the door — $20 for adults and $5 for students.
Tim Procopio and Caitlin Yaro model prom wear during last year’s fashion show fundraiser. This year’s third annual fashion show fundraiser, which is an annual event benefiting the Baldwinsville Girls Lacrosse team, will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday Feb. 28.
