Everything for the Hamilton ice hockey team seemed to click during last Wednesday night’s trip to Whitesboro.
From Alex Brink on the attack to the superb work in goal by Brendon Rusch, the Emerald Knights had complete control and shut out the Warriors 4-0.
Normally a Division II East contender, Whitesboro had struggled throughout this winter. Still, the Warriors were at home, and Hamilton knew it needed a first-rate effort.
And right from the moment the puck dropped, the Emerald Knights got that effort, scoring in each period at least once.
Brink would find the net three times to earn a hat trick, while Joe Santoro got the other goal. Jim Smith picked up two assists as Nick Heintz, Derrick Rogers and Kam Mikulka each gained one assist.
Meanwhile, Hamilton could not prevent the Warriors from making a series of attacks. Still, Rusch stood up to all of them, recording 30 saves to earn the shutout.
The Emerald Knights will be on the road again next Tuesday, playing Rome Free Academy, before returning to Starr Rink Jan. 15 to face Westmoreland.
