Liverpool’s girls volleyball team, seeking some glory in head coach Dee Darley’s last season at the helm, continued to have a solid start, especially when it beat rival Cicero-North Syracuse in three games last Wednesday night.
By scores of 25-20, 25-19 and 25-8, the Warriors were in full control of the Northstars. Jenna Street had 15 assists, while Emily Dumas got 11 assists.
Up front, Tiara Gray and Aubrey Barrett each had eight kills, with Dakota Farrell adding five kills and Anna Daucher four kills. CNS saw Erica Thompson pick up eight kills, fed by Meghan Ross, who had 15 assists.
Two nights earlier, the Warriors tuned up for CNS by going to Central Square and beating the Red Hawks 25-9, 29-27, 25-17.
Only the long second game provided any real threat, as Barrett earned 12 kills, Gray 10 kills and Farrell eight kills. On the back line, Dumas picked up 18 assists and Street added 15 assists, plus three kills.
Even with its vast improvement, CNS knows what kind of shadow Baldwinsville casts over everyone else.
The Northstars got another example of that in person last Monday night, when the Bees arrived and beat CNS in three games.
By scores of 25-17, 25-14 and 25-16, B’ville seized control, so there was little time for the Northstars to establish itself. Still, Danielle Rawda earned 10 kills, while Morgan Pratte earned four kills. Deanna Zbikowski had five assists.
For the Bees, setter Brianna Stewart had 33 assists, helping a balanced front line where Jenna Blujus, Paulina Rein (10 kills each) and Lauren McVey (eight kills) all made an impact.
