In light of the national best selling book and upcoming movie premiere of “Julie & Julia,” Creekside Books & Coffee, 35 Fennell St. in Skaneateles, has requested Lebanese cook Julie Ann Sageer to host a food and wine tasting event from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday Aug. 6.
The evening will feature recipes and dishes inspired by the best selling book and highly anticipated movie premiere of “Julie & Julia,” set to be released Aug. 7 at theaters everywhere.
Sageer will be preparing a sequence of tasting courses derived from Julia Child’s culinary bible if you will, “Mastering the Art of French Cooking, Vol. I,” which the book and movie are also based upon. The tasting courses will also be individually paired with selected wines that will best compliment the dishes in terms of key characteristics such as the ingredients, body and the ever so important factor of flavor.
Known for her popular Lebanese Cuisine cooking classes, Sageer will be tapping into her French heritage and culinary influences as well to create some of the most famed and highly regarded French cuisine of an equally famed and extraordinarily joyful woman, Julia Child.
Guests can expect to marvel in sensational tastes and flavors, while sipping on exceptional wine that is especially matched up with the tasting menu, all the while enjoying curiously interesting conversation about the book, movie and the lives of two very interesting women, Julia Child and Julie Powell.
Entertaining conversations regarding the book and movie will be highly encouraged as well recipe and culinary Q & A’s. Join us in celebrating an exuberant woman, Julia Child who made it her life’s work to “help Americans understand and appreciate quality wine and food.”
Advance reservations are required. Call Creekside Books and Coffee for reservations at 685-0379. For more information about the event, log onto creeksidebooks.com. The fee is $ 25.
