Bishop Ludden’s softball team got a nice reward for its 15-3 regular season – namely, the top seed for the Section III Class C-2 playoffs.
The only drawback is that the Gaelic Knights are in a tough C-2 bracket that includes, among others, perennial power Sandy Creek.
Ludden begins its playoff run Thursday, when it hosts the winner of Tuesday’s game between LaFayette and West Canada Valley.
Fabius-Pompey or Onondaga would be waiting in a possible semifinal on Saturday, with the finals on June 3 at the Gillette Road complex in Cicero.
Up in Class B-1, Westhill, the defending sectional champions, has the no. 2 seed and draws no. 7 seed Marcellus in Thursday’s quartrfinals.
Jordan-Elbridge, as the no. 5 seed, visits no. 4 seed Cazenovia (a team it beat 5-1 last week) on Thursday, just as Solvay, the no. 8 seed, tries to shock top seed South Jefferson.
