Just as the weather started to normalize again, the Jamesville-DeWitt and East Syracuse-Minoa girls lacrosse team both recorded impressive wins. In the Spartans’ case, that meant staying at home last Thursday night and slowly pulling away from Mexico, beating the Tigers 15-6 to improve to 3-2 on the season. Meanwhile, the Red Rams were also on its home field, struggling early against Fulton before a big second half produced an 18-9 victory over the Red Raiders. ESM didn’t waste much time taking control against Mexico. A steady, patient attack led to goals and a comfortable 9-3 halftime edge, something that the Spartans would maintain. Allyson Rossi, by herself, matched Mexico with six goals to lead the way. Gina Campese and Carissa Ficarro each had two goals and two assists, while Alyssa Anderalli also found the net twice. Elizabeth Stratton, Marlee Vlassis and Leah Sweeney each had one goal, with Lauren Greiner joining Vlassis in the assist column. J-D, meanwhile, was getting a real battle from Fulton in the first half, the two sides exchanging goals and going to the break tied at 5-5. Somewhere in the second half, though, the Rams began to wear the Red Raiders down and started to score at will. Tori Nies, with four goals, led that charge, though Kate Byrnes (three goals, one assist) was close behind as six different J-D players had multiple goals. Ashriel West backed up her pair of goals with four assists, as Meredith Howe and Liz Beville matched each other with two goals and two assists. Emily Johnson and Emily Elbers each had two goals and one assist. Taylor Bierwagen scored, too, with Molly Maroney picking up two assists.
