In Friday’s visit to Chittenango, the good times for the Jamesville-DeWitt girls basketball team continued as the Red Rams tamed the Bears in a 57-48 decision that gave Alyssa Gratien her biggest showcase of the season so far.
All through the first half, the Rams struggled to establish itself against Chittenango’s stout defense, only leading by one, 23-22, as they went to the break.
Then Gratien took over in the third quarter, taking full advantage of the Bears’ zone to hit a torrent of outside shots during a 21-9 spurt that gave J-D its ultimate margin.
All told, Gratien hit six 3-pointers on her way to setting a new career mark with 29 points, by far the most any individual has scored for the Rams in a game this season. Theresa Hernandez had eight points, while Jessica Kramer added six points.
With a 12-6 mark (11-3 league), J-D had to visit Phoenix on Wednesday before Friday’s big regular-season finale at CBA, which starts at 6 p.m. as the front end of a girls-boys doubleheader at Buddy Wleklinski Court.
