In a one-sided effort on Wednesday night, the Cicero-North Syracuse wrestling team went to Auburn last Wednesday night and rolled past the Maroons 66-12.
Every match from 152 pounds upward ended in a pin, with Alex Bruinsma, at 160 pounds, working the fastest as he finished off Dan McCormick in 1:37. Right behind him, Austin Morris (215 pounds) took 1:44 to pin Matt Mattes.
Also in this group, Anthony Kite, at 152, pinned Mike Henn in 3:35, while Ariel Anocedo (171 pounds) got his pin over Dominic Colella in 3:52. Jack Hotaling, at 189 pounds, got a pin over Ian Merritt with 34 seconds left in their match.
CNS, all told, had seven pins in this meet. Patrick Dyer, at 125 pounds, took 2:25 to pin James Martari, with Jordan Ramos (135 pounds) getting his pin over Brandon Fromel with 14 seconds to go in their match.
Daniel Ciciarelli (103 pounds), Kiel Dyer (119 pounds), James Segars (140 pounds) and Todd Hagger (145 pounds) all claimed forfeits, adding to the point total.
In a non-league meet at Chittenango Thursday night, the Northstars saw its fortunes turn around as it lost to the Bears 40-21.
Chittenango won five of the six matches, including close decisions where Segars, at 135 pounds, fell to Wes Blanding 5-4 and Ramos took a 3-0 loss to Anthony Galli. Only Dyer broke that spell, pinning John Regan in 1:23.
Hagger would pin Dan Naugle in 1:13, but the Bears won the next four matches as Chad Izyk (152 pounds) lost to Karl Chappell 7-3 and Kite, up at 160 pounds, took a 9-6 loss to Jacob Jayson.
CNS would close the match strong, though, as Austin Morris (215 pounds) needed two overtimes to get past Josh Wright 5-4 and Dan Ciciarelli (103 pounds) claimed a forfeit.
Right after the Northstars meet Fayetteville-Manlius on Thursday, it plays host to next Saturday’s Section III Class AA championship meet, which starts at 10 a.m. Top finishers advance to the Feb. 22 sectional Division I championships at Utica Memorial Auditorium.
