In a venture outside the OHSL Liberty division, the Cazenovia girls volleyball team went to Fulton last Monday night and twice had leads, but could not hold on to either of them in a five-game loss to the Red Raiders. It all looked good in the first game, when the Lakers blitzed to a 25-11 victory, but Fulton, the OHSL Freedom division leaders, responded by taking the second game 25-16. They continued to trade games, as the Lakers won the third game 25-20 and lost the fourth game 25-19. And in a close and tense fifth game, Fulton would get the points that mattered, prevailing 25-22 to take the match. Alissa Easterly had 18 assists, as Megan Robinson picked up 11 assists. Up front, Julie Gregg led the way for the Lakers with 13 kills, while Leah McAleer (six kills) and Lindsey Nourse (four kills) offered help and Rachel Burbidge earned three aces and three assists. On Fulton’s side, Ariel Streeter earned 41 assists, an average of more than eight assists per game, as Brianna Streeter got 16 kills with help from Megan O’Bryan (nine kills), Carissa Bracy (eight kills) and Kayla Pawlewicz (six kills).
