Chittenango’s wrestling team, which lost to Cortland earlier this week, competed again Saturday at Fabius-Pompey’s Dual Meet and would finish on top of the field, beating all five opponents it would face. To start with, the Bears beat the host F-P Falcons 45-15, but didn’t stop there, flattening Port Byron 60-4 before the pivotal match where it would bash eventual runner-up Skaneateles in a 47-8 verdict. Completing the sweep, Chittenango beat Harpursville 57-13 and Deposit-Hancock 57-15 as Wes Blanding, competing at 130 pounds, earned team Most Outstanding Wrestler honors. Another busy week awaits the Bears as it went to Canastota on Tuesday before coming home for back-to-back meets against Whitesboro on Thursday and East Syracuse-Minoa on Friday night.
