CBA/J-D hockey holds off Ontario Bay

A month of bitter struggle and lots of close defeats only added to the CBA/J-D ice hockey team’s motivation as it continued to make its climb up the standings.

Hanging on down the stretch in last Monday’s game against Ontario Bay at Onondaga Nation Arena, the Brothers beat the Storm 4-3.

Seizing the early edge, CBA/J-D led 2-0 after the first period. Ontario Bay got on the board in the second period, but both sides traded goals in a tense third period, the Brothers not pulling ahead for good until Heath Ferris scored with 10:03 left in regulation.

Prior to that, Gordie Gehring had pushed CBA/J-D going, with two goals and one assist. Ferris and Deke Burns got the other goals, while Brandon Pendergast, Shea Lavin and Cam Sylvia earned assists. Bobby Morris needed all of his 30 saves for the Brothers to prevail.

Having improved to 4-7 (4-4 league), the Brothers play Watertown IHC Thursday night, looking to get above the .500 mark in the league.
