The revised 2008-09 school budget was accepted by Jordan-Elbridge district taxpayers Tuesday night, after the first budget failed on May 20.
The reduced budget passed 684 to 479. The revision presented a lower tax levy, down to 2.43% from the initially proposed 4.33%.
The budget and tax levy passed Tuesday accounts for about half of the consumer price index, a measure of inflation, posted at 4.10% for the first quarter of 2008.
The gap between the tax levy and the inflation rate could mean trouble down the road, as costs rise and available funds do not.
