Jane Peer, 87, of Cazenovia, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2020, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse surrounded by her family following a brief illness. She was born Aug. 10, 1933, in Lancaster, Ohio, one of 10 children known as the “Collins Clan.” Jane was the last surviving member of her siblings and attended Lancaster High School in Lancaster, Ohio. Jane was employed at the phone company for many years and also worked as a hall monitor for 25 years at Cazenovia High School where she loved her job and interacting with the students. Jane was known as the woman with the “Million Dollar Smile” along with being strong, caring, loving, generous and great friend. Her family and friends were extremely important to her. Some of her favorite past time activities where knitting, crocheting, watching tennis, game shows, going out to dinner and a good cup of coffee. Moreover, her main enjoyment was going to the Yellow Brick Casino and spending time with her family and friends. Her spirit will live on in our hearts and memories forever along with her zest for life.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Richard L. Peer; two daughters, Janey (Paulie) Humbert and Laurie Peer; her grandson, William Charles Hurd III; her very close friend, Anthony (Cindy) Carr and a large extended family of several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a grandson, Ray Hurd.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 1, 2020, at Michael E. Brown Funeral Services, 2333 Fenner Road, Cazenovia. COVID-19 precautions will be in effect.
