Members of the Hamlet of Jamesville Master Plan Working Committee and the Town of Dewitt invite Jamesville community members to a meeting to update the community on the planning in progress and to contribute their thoughts and ideas for future plans for the hamlet to ensure that the final report remains a local level initiative.
The meeting will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 19, in the Jamesville Firehouse Meeting Room, 6661 E. Seneca Turnpike, Jamesville.
The Central New York Regional Planning & Development Board (CNY RPDB) is providing community outreach, planning, writing and mapping assistance, working closely with the committee in this planning effort.
Objectives of the community outreach in the master planning process are to:
✓Identify Jamesville’s cultural and environmental resources and additional strengths and opportunities
✓Identify, understand, and address issues of concern to the community
✓Guide community planning in support of the goals of the community
The Hamlet of Jamesville Master Plan will be a consensus-driven document that is used by municipal officials as a guide for planning and land-use decision-making. Jamesville’s Hamlet Master Plan will help guide future growth and development, while providing guidance in maintaining the Hamlet’s economic and environmental well-being, recreational and cultural resources, and historic character. The Plan will be based on local consensus of ideas and recommendations from the public. The major components will include:
∙Introduction
∙Context and Key Characteristics
∙The Vision and Guiding Principles
∙Inventory & Analysis
∙Spatial Concept
∙Key Opportunities
∙Implementation Strategy
The project is a part of the ‘Vision CNY Regional Partnership for Comprehensive Planning Project’ of the CNY RPDB. Funding was awarded through Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s Cleaner, Greener Communities (CGC) program. The CGC program is a major statewide initiative, administered by the New York Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), encouraging communities to incorporate sustainability goals and principles into local decision-making, leading to a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the generation of economic development benefits.
