A documentary film at SU’s Newhouse:
Thea St. Omer, adjunct professor at Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communication, will host a screening and discussion of her latest documentary film, Nigger, (2009, 86 minutes, b&w, video) at 7:30 p.m. April 22 in the Halmi Screening Room, 141 Newhouse 3.
{Q}In Nigger, a myriad of people, including noted scholars and artists, dissect what is arguably the most loaded word in America’s history.{Q}
The screening, supported by the Cultural Resources Council is free and open to the public.
For her documentaries, St. Omer has received individual artists fellowships from: the Jerome Foundation, New York State Council on the Arts, Bronx Council on the Arts, New York Women in Film and Television and New York Foundation for the Arts.
