This year, Camillus boy scouts are passing on popcorn for more useful products as fundraising efforts kick off, in light of the economy.
Loyal supporters of local boy scouts will recognize the cause — but this year, it won’t be the familiar popcorn and bottle drives the scouts are pushing.
The Camillus-based Boy Scout Troop 407 and Cub Scout Pack 293 have combined efforts to raise money for their programs dedicated to helping young scouts achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. On Wednesday April 15, they will launch their lawn and garden supply fundraising program. The scouts will provide a convenient service to the local community by selling a select group of lawn and gardening products at competitive prices, delivered directly to the customer’s door.
Leaders Scott Reilly, Chris Fletcher, and Todd Mirabito feel that this approach to fundraising allows for the community to participate, even within current economic conditions.
“The candy, popcorn, bottle drives and car washes have always been well accepted by the community,” says Todd Mirabito, “but in today’s economy, it’s nice to be able to provide items that everyone needs for their homes and gardens. Local businesses like Wheeler’s Farm & Home, KinaneCo, M Design, and BuildRight Company, are supporting our efforts to make this program a success.”
Boy Scout Troop 407 and Cub Scout Pack 293 use the funds to support outdoor trips to Camp Sabattis in the Adirondack Park of Upstate New York and at Camp Woodland in Constantia. Boy Scout Troop 407 and Cub Scout Pack 293 thank everyone for their continued support, and look forward to supplying the community with a great selection of lawn and garden products.
