Preschoolers, accompanied by an adult, will enjoy weekly explorations of Beaver Lake at the Nature Center’s Sharing Nature “Summer Camp” in July.
Each week brings a new opportunity for discovery through nature walks, games, and crafts. Choose either Thursdays or Fridays from 10 am to 11:30 am.
- July 7 or 8: Camouflage
- July 14 or 15: Pond Life
- July 21 or 22: Trees
- July 28 or 29: Insects
The cost per child is $7 per session or $24 for all four sessions. Advance registration is required.
Canoeing and kayaking on Beaver Lake
Beaver Lake Nature Center is now open daily for canoeing and kayaking through Labor Day. Dock hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends and 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on weekdays. Canoe and kayak rentals are $10 per hour and are available on a first-come basis. Private boats are allowed on the lake on weekdays only. Since Beaver Lake Nature Center reserves the right to close the lake at any time, especially during hazardous weather, visitors should call ahead for current information.
Sunset canoe tour
Beaver Lake Nature Center is offering a naturalist-led canoe tour on from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturdays, July 9 and July 23. Participants will get the chance to observe the grace of a great blue heron, the prowess of a kingfisher and the close-up beauty of a water lily as the sun sets over the lake. The cost is $20 per canoe (canoe rental included). Advance registration is required.
Wild Wednesdays!
Beaver Lake is excited for the return of Wild Wednesdays, a program designed for children pre-school age and up. On select Wednesdays, participants will explore Beaver Lake with a naturalist and take part in wild and fun activities.
- July 13 and Aug. 10: Frogs and Turtles
- July 20 and Aug. 17: Pond Dipping
- Aug. 3: Insects with Professor Arthur Pod
Wild Wednesdays begin at 1 p.m. and are free with nature center admission.
