CENTRAL NEW YORK – Most times when one good bowling team beats another, as the Baldwinsville boys did when it topped Fulton 5-2 last Tuesday afternoon, that’s the main story.
Yet what happened in the girls match, a 7-0 Bees loss to the Red Dragons, proved difficult to top. Fulton bowler Addison Nichols shot a perfect 300 game – 12 shots, 12 strikes – at B’ville Sports bowl.
As if this wasn’t enough, Nichols closed her series with a 280 and put up a 214 in between those games for a 794 series which was the best in Section III so far this winter.
This, along with a 598 series from Morgan Sheldon (high game 214) and a 594 series from Taryn Murphy (high game 216), proved far too tough to overcome, though Sam Hass gave B’ville a 653 series with games of 246 and 223 and Lizzy Hildreth opened with 218 in her 587 series. Morgan Diecuch had a three-game total of 516.
B’ville’s boys had no one who could match Addison’s totals, but still subdued Fulton with a pinfall of 3,645 to the Red Dragons’ 2,828 led by Jordan Sevigny and Zenon Gasiorowski.
Sevigny shot 203, 236 and 230 in his 669 series, with Gasiorowski going 225, 237 and 206 during his 668 set as Scott Ritcey opened with 216, closed with 236 and got a 638 series.
Wes Lell’s 235 opening game highlighted a 560 series, with Caleb Hawthorne contributing a 522 set. Fulton was led by Max Cunningham’s 249 first game and 618 series as Jeff Landers closed with 235 during his 616 set.
Against Central Square a day later each of the B’ville sides prevailed 7-0, and it was Lell who nearly proved perfect in the boys match against the Red Hawks. Netting 10 strikes in his opening game, Lell shot 279, adding a 215 and 246 for a 740 series.
Close behind him, Ritcey shot two games of 236 with a 226 in between on his way to a 698 total as Gasiorowski added a 622 serries with games of 208, 210 and 204. Jordan Sevigny shot a 215 and 195, with Liam
Reedy adding a 227 and 190 in his pair of games. Central Square got a 254 game and 663 series from Collin Edwards and 643 series from Owen Schlueter.
B’ville’s girls had a far easier time of it, with only two players going all three games. Hildreth shot 236, 203 and 216 to post a 651 series, with Hass opening with 224 and closing with 203 during her 589 set.
Both of the B’ville sides will go on the road for its two matches this week, first to Auburn on Monday and then to Green Lakes Lanes to face Fayetteville-Manlius Friday before the holiday break.
