MANLIUS – In many ways, the toughest parts for the Baldwinsville boys track and field team is behind them, at least when it comes to Salt City Athletic Conference Metro division foes.
Already with impressive wins over Cicero-North Syracuse and Liverpool, the Bees turned its attention to Fayetteville-Manlius last Wednesday and rolled past the Hornets 81.5-41 while also beating Henninger 81.5-14.5.
F-M did get individual titles in most of the races, but in field events the Bees had David Dobrowolski throw the shot put 43 feet 1 ½ inches as Kyle Sheckler cleared 11’6” in the pole vault.
Henninger’s Yor Yal topped 6 feet in the high jump and went 41’8” to win the triple jump, while in sprints F-M’s Niktia Domashenko had quick times of 11.74 seconds in the 100-meter dash and 23.82 in the 200-meter dash.
Meanwhile, in the girls meet, B’ville was also successful against F-M, managing to claim a 72-48 victory while also pulling away from Henninger 72-21.
Lauren LeTourneau stepped up for the Bees, clearing 4’10” in the high jump but also winning the long jump with 14’7” as Maddie Kennedy went 28.12 seconds to win the 200 and took the 400 sprint in 1:01.80.
Nela Loftin put up a top triple jump of 32’4”, with Katie DeFio clearing 7 feet in the pole vault. McKenna Brady went 1:11.38 to win the 400 hurdles as Sydney McKenney took the 100 hurdles in 17.20 seconds and Aaniya Johnson claimed the 100 sprint in 11.34.
Many of B’ville’s top boys athletes competed last weekend in the famed Penn Relays in Philadelphia. Returning to Central New York, the Bees face West Genesee and Corcoran in another three-team meet on Wednesday and then take part in Friday’s East Syracuse Minoa Invitational.
