SYRACUSE – Most of the regular-season work is now done for the Baldwinsville boys swim team, who has built a 7-3 record and is now gearing up for the Feb. 16 Section III Class A championships.
Before all that, though, the Bees first had to get through Tuesday’s meet against Syracuse at the same Nottingham High School pool that will again host the sectional meet.
B’ville won it, 96-80, led by the duo of Mikey White and Matt Lange, who each won two individual races.
White succeeded in the longest and shortest races on the card, going 22.39 seconds to dominate the 50-yard freestyle before moving to the 500 freestyle and winning there in 5:05.46, nearly 20 seconds ahead of the field.
Lange would go 51.23 seconds in the 100 freestyle as part of a 1-2 finish ahead of Harrison Meyers, who was second in 53.53. Then, in the 100 backstroke, Lange finished in 1:01.85, just ahead of Trevor Kantak’s second-place 1:02.37.
Also, the Bees prevailed in a pair of relays. White, Lange, Meyers and Zach Ehrig went 1:37.78 to hold off Syracuse (1:39.39) in the 200 freestyle relay before a 400 freestyle relay where Alex Lakomski joined White, Meyers and Lange to win in 3:38.96.
Meyers finished second in the 200 individual medley in 2:15.54, with Brennan Gruppe second in the 100 butterfly in 1:04.53 to Kantak’s 1:05.27. Ben Webster took second in the 100 breaststroke in 1:18.24.
