With its perfect mark and spot atop the Salt City Athletic Conference Metro Division standings, the Liverpool boys bowling team set out to preserve that status.
A showdown with Baldwinsville last Tuesday afternoon proved quite exciting, with the Warriors prevailing 4-1 in a match where its pinfall of 3,081 was just ahead of the Bees’ 2,961.
Josh Winzens shot games of 245, 213 and 237 in his 695 series, the best of all individuals. Deacon Roberson had a 624 series closed by a 227, while Zak Ormsby had a 231 second game in his 601 set.
Brandon Davis finished with a 209 in his 588 series as Dylan Roberson got a 573 series. B’ville’s Tanner Rozyczko started with a 249 and finished with a 214 in his 658 series. Dylan Williams had a 604 set, while Dylan Love got a 586 series.
The girls match had a different outcome, Liverpool falling 5-0 to B’ville as both teams now stood at 8-2 overall. Dominique Cimini shot a 508 series capped by a 183 game and Makenzi Ormsby had a 197 game in her 502 set.
Brandi Harmon (488 series) and Mackenzie Gill (473 series) were close behind as Ashley Hardy shot a 210 game. B’ville got a 625 series from Julia Spiech and a 610 series from Amelia Ponto.
Then it was Liverpool going head-to-head against Cicero-North Syracuse on Wednesday afternoon at Strike-N-Spare Lanes and sweeping both sides of that match with the Northstars.
The boys 3-0 victory involved a 596 series from Devin Roberson, a 591 series from Davis (224 high game) and Winzens starting with a 218 and 215 in his 583 set.
To counter, C-NS had J.J. O’Connell finish with a 607 series, with no game higher than 213. Tyler Dottolo’s 218 was part of a 571 set as Nick Wentworth finished with a 554 set.
In its 3-0 win over the Northstars, the Liverpool girls featured Gill shooting games of 209 and 200 in her 590 series, just ahead of Ormsby’s 583 set that included a high game of 207.
C-NS was led on the girls side by Katie Cloonan, whose games of 187 and 192 led to a 553 series. Jessaia McGriff had a 511 series ahead of the 455 set from Kathryn Artz.
This followed a 4-1 win by the Northstars over Fayetteville-Manlius a day earlier, with Cloonan’s 518 series the leading effort as McGriff got a 500 series and Marissa Leone a 481 series in front of Artz (426 series) and Brianna Mabee (414 series).
The C-NS boys also beat F-M, this one a 3-0 decision where O’Connell’s games of 246, 217 and 233 produced a 696 series.
Landon Spingler closed with a 255 in his 651 set as Dottolo had a 246 during his 644 series. Jacob Calabria added a 586 set, while the Hornets’ Kevin Winschel led his side with a three-game total of 640.
In Friday’s match against Fulton, the girls Northstars lost 4-0, with Cloonan shooting a 562 series (203 high game) and McGriff finishing with a 211 in her 519 set. Fulton’s Alexis Ingersoll had games of 233, 245 and 203 in her 681 series.
