In its return to action last Monday afternoon, the Skanetaeles girls golf team managed to beat both of East Syracuse Minoa’s sides on the Spartans’ home course at Arrowhead. The Lakers had a team score of 200 to beat ESM Blue’s total of 215 and ESM Orange’s aggregate of 263.
Jenna Field led Skaneateles, shooting a 46 for nine holes to tie ESM Blue’s Audrey Rivers for individual honors, but Jillian Barker was right behind them with a 47 to put the Lakers in front for good.
Then help came from Addison Gremly, who shot a 53, and Karah Blair, whose 54 helped clinch the Skaneateles victory. Mackenzie Ward finished with a 59 and Julia Cirincione posted a 60.
The Lakers then made it back-to-back wins on Tuesday at Tuscarora, where it beat Marcellus 213-224. There was a nice balance among the top four Skaneateles performers as Field shot a 52, just ahead of Barker and Gremly, who both posted 53, and Mackenzie Ward was right behind them as she got a 54.
By contrast, Wednesday’s match against Chittenango at Woodcrest Golf Club proved a showcase for Barker, who blew away all other individuals in the course of the Lakers’ 219-245 victory over the Bears.
Barker shot a 45, which was the best round by 11 shots over Gremly’s 56. That duo, along with Field (who shot 57), all beat Chittenango’s Jennie McIntosh, who led her side with a 59. Blair contributed a 61.
A rematch with Marcellus on Thursday at Skaneateles Country Club produced the same winning result for the Lakers, this time by a score of 200-212. Gremly went to the top with a 47, one shot ahead of the Mustangs’ Mary Colella, while Blair had a 49 and Barker produced a 51.
