On Sept. 9, David’s Refuge will host the third annual Taste of David’s Refuge fundraising event from 7 to 10 p.m. at Beak & Skiff 1911 Café and Tasting Room.
David’s Refuge began five years ago serving just over 40 couples. Now, the organization has grown to serve over 154 respite weekends in 2016 and will open the 2017 calendar to serve 250 weekends at over 18 Bed and Breakfast locations and multiple volunteers and sponsors.
Todd Luchsinger, executive vice president and CFO at Dupli Envelopes and Graphics and his wife Kadi, executive director of Dup15q Alliance, are the Honorary Chairs and have a personal connection to David’s Refuge.
“We are grateful for our time at David’s Refuge where we experienced time to rest, rejuvenate, talk uninterrupted and meet other wonderful couples who are sharing this journey,” they said.
Food and drink are being provided by Beak & Skiff, Sherwood Inn, Brae Loch, Carrabba’s, Empire Brewery, Gannon’s Ice Cream, Murphy’s Specialized Pastry and Maines. Skip Clark, program director of 92.1 The WOLF- Syracuse’s New Hit Country will emcee the event.
Twelve destination baskets will be silently auctioned, as well as a private Gourmet Dinner prepared by the Chef de Cuisine at The Brewster Inn.
Tickets for the event are $125 per person.
David’s Refuge was started by Warren and Brenda Pfohl in honor of their son David who passed away five years ago after a thirteen year battle with Battens Disease. Their mission is to simply “Care of the Caregiver.”
