The Town of DeWitt’s 48th annual Canal Day celebration will begin at noon on Saturday, Aug. 6, in Ruder Park on Butternut Drive in DeWitt. In addition to the usual family friendly favorites, this year’s event also features a Balloon Build with Jeff the Magic Man and a craft show.
The day begins at noon with a schedule full of activities to keep the kids busy. There are carnival games, face painting, inflatable bounce house, obstacle course and slam dunk, a roving juggler and the Tumble Bus. Page Wildlife Center will display live birds of prey with educational sessions throughout the day.
Other activities include a performance by the Pigeon Post String Band at 1 p.m., a board breaking demonstration by Impact Martial Arts at 3 p.m., and informational displays by the DeWitt Police Dept., the DeWitt Fire Dept., the DeWitt Community Library and other community groups such as Helping Hounds and CODFish.
The evening’s festivities begin on the Main Stage, where Matt Chase and Thunder Canyon Band perform from 6:30 to 10 p.m. A fireworks display puts the finishing touches on local food trucks and other businesses will serve up fun summertime food and drinks throughout the day and evening.
Admission to Canal Day is free.
