Ever wonder what it’s like in the library once it’s closed? There’s something both eerie and comforting about a silent, empty building full of books. One night an echo through the dark aisles will be snatches of music so catchy they will stick in your head until you remember the title.
We’re opening the library for a special program. Geoffrey Clough will be hosting an hour of Name that Tune, music from the early 1900 – 1999. Great songs like “Let Me Call You Sweetheart” (1911), “My Blue Heaven” (1927), “In the Mood” (1939), “White Christmas” (1942), “Hound Dog” (1956), “Hey Jude” (1968), “American Pie” (1971), “Every Breath You Take” (1983), and “Macarena” (1995) are just a few of the possible songs for you to identify.
Following that exciting hour, we’ll settle in to watch the charming musical “Singing in the Rain” starring Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds and Donald O’Connor. “A silent film star falls for a chorus girl just as he and his delusionally jealous screen partner are trying to make the difficult transition to talking pictures in 1920s Hollywood.” (From Internet Movie Database).
