To the editor:
On Friday, Dec. 2, the downtown streets were filled with hundreds of people to celebrate the 39th annual Cazenovia Christmas Walk. I would like to extend an enormous thank you to all the people who helped make it the beautiful event filled with holiday spirit that it was. Fred Agerter (AmeriCu), thank you for all the hard work you put into this event. The details were spectacular, the evening ran perfectly and everyone on the streets had a great time. Anna Marie (GCACC), and Amanda Kogut (Spruce Ridge Greenhouse), thank you for all of the behind the scenes work you did. The street vendors and Cazenovia Community Band’s music added a lot of fun to the evening.
Thank you to the Bill Carr and the village crew for hanging wreaths and lights, and the Garden Club and the Alpha Phi Omega’s for hanging the garland. Thank you to Nick Borsellino and Ralph Mietz Jr. for taking care of the music and sound engineering. Thanks to Ian Cornue for setting up his stage and letting us use it again this year. Thanks to Joanne Rinaldo for bringing her dancers (Cazenovia School of Ballet) to open the evening. They started dancing and the snow began to fall as if on cue. Thank you to Kinney Drugs for the candy canes and Common Grounds and Dave’s Diner for letting us use their space as needed.
Thanks to Teresa Campbell and her choir for all the carols they sang, and to Rosemary Langey for the interactive and fun version of the “Twelve Days of Christmas.” Thank you to all the merchants that were open and all the vendors who supplied hot drinks and food to the strollers.
The International Santas were a huge hit, thank you to the students who came and were wonderfully in costume and spirit. Thank you Reverend Dr. Oak of the First Presbyterian Church for leading us in prayer before the tree was lit. Thank you Dave Cox for making the magic happen. Thank you to Mayor Kurt Wheeler, Coach Scheftic and the Cazenovia varsity field hockey team for joining us on stage to help light the tree. Thank you to the Fire Department for delivering Santa on a firetruck and to the Police Department for keeping everyone safe that evening. And of course thank you Santa Clause, it wouldn’t have been the same without you.
Thank you to everyone involved. (Hopefully we didn’t forget anyone!)
