The box that so many patrons look for this time of year will be out in the lobby come the middle of next week.
On Wednesday, Nov. 1, the Liverpool Public Library will be the easy spot to donate the 2018 calendar that you’ve already been given by one means or another but know you just won’t use.
The calendar box will be clearly labeled in the LPL lobby.
If it’s full — and it often gets that way — calendars can be given to the staffers at the customer service desk.
They will all be collected again by “the Calendar Lady.” She’s made it her purpose this time of year to take as many calendars as possible to community hospitals and senior residences, where they are distributed to those who won’t get one otherwise.
The LPL will collect donated calendars until Jan. 12, 2018.
Speaking of next year, the folks at AARP would love to have more volunteers to staff their Tax Aide program. They’ll train interested people who sign up for the program.
Find the information about the New York chapter at this link: states.aarp.org/volunteers-needed-aarp-foundation-tax-aide-program-4/
The number to call is 888-OUR-AARP (888-687-2277).
If enough folks around here sign up and get the needed expertise, says the state coordinator, there’s a chance the LPL could earn an AARP tax help program before the April 2018 deadline.
