Here’s a real page-turner for you.
The Liverpool Public Library’s oh-so-popular Annual Used Book Sale Down Under returns two weekends from now, and that means the corner of Tulip and Second streets in the village of Liverpool will be hopping.
The free admission portion of the event runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23 and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24. Those who just can’t wait to get first crack at the more than 80,000 donated and pared-from-our collection books, DVDs and CDs can take advantage of the early shopper/dealer night from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, or an early-bird hour at 8 the next morning. Tickets for Friday are $15 available at the library now. That price rises to $20 when the sale opens. Admission for the early-bird hour is $10.
Books and media are priced separately: $1.50 for adult hardcover books; $1 for children’s hardcover books, audiobooks, CDs, software and DVDs; and 50 cents for paperbacks.
Sunday features the bag sale. We provide the bag, and you can fill it for a cost of $5.
A special section of collectible books will be priced accordingly.
Book lovers always line up to take advantage of the many titles dropped off here over the year.
A new wrinkle this year will feature a “garage-sale corner” with items LPL staffers culled from their work stations.
All proceeds benefit the library.
The beehive of activity in the underground parking garage to set up, present and break down the sale presents a bunch of volunteer opportunities.
If you’re interested in meeting kind people and helping your community, you can sign up at LPL.org through Tuesday, Sept. 19: docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScxup4z66DA8siI2GEJWZdBW0Xa-bZ1t3-Qri2AslMjzQL0JQ/viewform
